When I received samples of Alterna Bamboo hair products, I was immediately intrigued. The product boasts of sustainability and is Eco-certified. Their tag line is, “Because great hair should be sustainable.” Isn’t that great a company that cares about the environment? The marketing of this product is obviously focused on the importance of the environment. I think this is so refreshing and important.
Packaged in a sunny yellow and grey box with matching shampoo and conditioner tubes. There is also a dry oil mist that is the ultimate choice for smoothing unruly and dry hair. Ha! Sounds like mine! All three products contain bamboo and kendi oil.
Anti-Frizz Shampoo– I was impressed with the clean yet light feeling of the shampoo in my hair and hands as I used it. It felt great. I loved how gentle it felt in my hair and smelled wonderful.
Anti-Frizz Conditioner– I absolutely loved the smell of the conditioner, it smelled fresh and reminded me of a sunny summer morning. It distributed well throughout my hair and wasn’t too runny or thick.
Kendi Oil-Dry Oil Mist– The bottle claimed that it provided ultimate frizz control. While I don’t typically have to deal with frizzy hair, it can be a bit dry, wild and curly. Would this oil help tame the beast? I sprayed it on my hair once my hair was almost dry and I was relieved that it smelled just as good as the shampoo and conditioner. I was equally impressed that it wasn’t heavy or oily. I styled my hair and went about my day.
My hair looked great and felt great all day. There was little to no frizzy or fly away hair and for the most part, my curls behaved. I was pleased at how fresh my hair felt, it didn’t feel weighed down by any heavy scents or oils.
The products claim to be free of parabens, sulphates, phthalates and synthetic colour. Judging from the overall smell, appearance and feel of my hair I believe them!
Alterna Hair Care, Bamboo Smooth- 9/10.
Priced at approximately $29.99 each. I will say that is a little on the expensive side.
